Schott NYC

Schott NYC has become the quintessential American brand that has evolved with each of the country's significant events. It was founded by brothers of Russian immigrants, Irving and Jack Schott who pursued the American dream with vehemence. They created raincoats in a Lower East Side basement, which were sold by street peddlers door to door. Eventually, they would implement zippers on their items and continued to revolutionize American fashion with their leather jackets.

The rugged and durable creations became an instant classic just as the biker subculture began to rise. They were named the Perfecto, which retailed for $5.50 at a Long Island Harley Distributor. ‎Youth saw the jacket as a symbol of excitement and fueled their passion for motorcycles.

They never missed an opportunity to support their country and designed a bomber jacket for soldiers during WWII. It kept them warm and made it easy for them to be vigilant in their duties. Schott NYC became the sole uniform producer for the American military for the next 60 years.

Despite that, they never forgot their rebellious nature and was an instant hit among American youth after the war. They became synonymous with rock n' roll culture and their jackets were could be seen on Marlon Brando in The Wild Ones and James Dean. However, their sales decreased during this period despite its increased popularity because schools found that they represented immorality and banned them.

During the 1970s and 1980s, they garnered a following from the punk movement. The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Blondie, and Joan Jett all sported one of these edgy creations.

Schott NYC celebrated their 100th anniversary and continue to produce all their garments in the United States. No matter what, their brand is American all the way through.
